Princeton, MO is the county seat of Mercer County in north central Missouri. It is a small town with a population of approximately 1,100. Princeton is located in the rolling hills of Northern Missouri bordering Iowa. Given the location, it is a destination spot for hunters. Many of the Outdoor Channel professional hunters film in the area, with many Boone and Crockett bucks taken annually. The cost of land and housing are very affordable making this area an attractive investment. Employment is made up of farming, small businesses, and public sector jobs. Smithfield Foods, the largest local employer, is a large hog production facility.
The community was the childhood home of Calamity Jane, known historically for her romance with Wild Bill Hickock and as a member of Buffalo Bill Cody’s Wild West Show. Princeton holds an annual Calamity Jane Days that includes a parade, fun activities, horse-back riding, and more!
Princeton R-V School District includes an elementary school (K-6), a junior high (7-8), and Princeton High School (9-12). The Stacy Center is located next to the school and is similar to a YMCA. The Stacy Center has an indoor pool, gym, and fitness room and is a great destination for birthday parties.
